Elevated Performance

Mountain Hardwear | Mens & Womens Jackets, Coats, Pants, Gloves, and Sleeping Bags

Born with the mission to create exceptional performance apparel and equipment, Mountain Hardwear has empowered outdoor athletes to live boldly for over 27 years. Mountain Hardwear was founded in 1993 by a small band of outdoor industry iconoclasts. They saw the industry changing, compromising quality and dumbing down products to serve less technical users. Mountain Hardwear was founded to buck this trend in order to stay true to the needs of all outdoor athletes, no matter whether they were climbing mountains or taking weekend day hikes.

At its core, Mountain Hardwear believes in unrelenting performance, purposefully designs, form that follows function, and high-quality materials and technologies. The results of this dedication are plain to see: they make some of the best jackets, coats, pants, shirts, and shorts anywhere. Mountain Hardwear apparel is built expertly and precisely to deliver flawless durability, comfort, and performance, no matter the environment. For a classic and amazing Mountain Hardwear jacket, try the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Down Jacket or the Super StretchDown Hooded Down Jacket, both available in mens and womens sizes. For spring we also carry their amazing lightweight apparel, like the Mens Canyon Short Sleeve Shirt or the Women's Dynama Pants. Mountain Hardwear is truly amazing mountain apparel.

At OutlandUSA.com, we love Mountain Hardwears unmatched dedication to quality and technical design. Many of our staff members swear by their Mountain Hardwear apparel and wear it daily. Give Mountain Hardwear a try.

 Questions & Tips

Q: How do I care for my Down Jacket?

To machine wash, first zip up all zippers, attach all Velcro, and turn your garment inside out.  Only use a front-loading machine, with cold water on a gentle setting.  Use a minimum amount of a mild powder soap or special down soap (available at outdoor stores).  Use at least two rinse cycles to get all of the soap out of the garment.

When moving your garment from washer to dryer, do so by carrying it from the bottom.  Tumble dry in a large, commercial dryer with low heat.  The dryer must be large enough for the garment to flop around freely.  Drying could take several hours, and your garment should be checked often to be sure it isn't overheated.  As it dries, look for clumps of wet down and gently shake to redistribute the down.

When laundering your down jacket or parka, don't:

use a top-loading washing machine

use a liquid soap or detergent

use your home dryer (they have been known to melt holes in fabric)

lift your garment from one end when wet (lift the entire thing from underneath)

dry out in the sun (UV can damage nylon)

Q: What is StretchDown?

StretchDown is a specially designed jacket type made of knit fabric material allowing for a dynamic stretch. Jackets using StretchDown technology utilize welded seams instead of traditional sewn seams and contain 750-fill Q.Shield DOWN.
