Filson

Might As Well Have The Best

Filson Rugged Outdoor Gear: Shirts, Jackets, Bags, Hats, & More

Filson is a true american heritage brand, that has long been known to outdoors enthusiasts and intrepid travelers for its unfailing goods of superior quality, utility, and style. Filson continues to manufacture most of their products in the United States using the same quality materials they've used for over a century. To read more about those materials please see our Heritage Fabrics information below.

The company's dedication to the highest standards of quality are directly tied to their lifetime guarantee: if your product fails in the course of its intended use, they'll repair or replace it, no questions asked. Filson's long reputation for designing clothing to survive the harshest environments extends back to the late 1800's.

During those early days, Filson designed and manufactured durable outdoor clothing for miners, loggers, fishermen, mariners, and explorers who were continually exposed to the harsh Washington and Alaskan territory climates. The Mackinaw Wool Cruisers are similar in style to those early jacket designs and are all still made of 100% wool.

Today, Filson's wool and tin cloth pieces are some of the warmest on the market because of the quality of materials. That reputation for quality and durability extends to all the pieces we carry here at OutlandUSA.com. We are proud to be a flagship dealer offering one of the widest selections of Filson apparel and goods to our customers. Filson's Tin Cloth Hat, Rugged Twill Duffle Bag, and Tin Cloth Field Jacket are favorites with our customers.

We celebrate their artisan craftsmanship, field tested quality, and dedication to promote the spirit of the outdoors to everyone with an adventurous spirit.

Heritage Materials
Comfort, durability, and protection never go out of style.

Rugged Twill

Filson's Rugged Twill fabric is woven using heavy-duty, rigid yet pliable, 22 oz cotton. This durable fabric is lightly treated during production with a paraffin-based wax to help repel water. The bags made from rugged twill are over-built, have reinforced seams, and ensure they will stay beautiful with every day use.

Mackinaw Wool

Mackinaw Wool is a 24 oz 100% felted wool that blocks wind, repels snow, and stays blissfully warm in cold and wet conditions. The beauty of this wool is that along with the heavy-duty stitching, it is almost bullet-proof. It doesn't shed, pill, or wrinkle and looks good day in and day out.

Tin Cloth

Waxed canvas is the original weather-resistant fabric. Long before laminated membranes and PVC coated synthetic fabrics came into style, outdoor gear enthusiasts were using waxed canvas. It was nicknamed "Tin Cloth" because it was so durable. At that time, tin was one of the toughest materials around. Even now, Filson's "tin cloth" remains durable, reliable, and one of the best weather-proof natural fabrics - Tin Cloth is essentially a cotton canvas that has been finished with wax. This protective coating can be reapplied as the wax dissipates over time, resulting in timeless patina and uncompromising protection from the elements.
